Watershed Explorer Project Request For Proposals

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND

Full information

The Whatcom Conservation District (WCD) is currently accepting proposals to develop, design, and construct a mobile, interactive, trailer mounted, watershed exploration model (Explorer) for use at community events and classrooms. Funding for this project is from an Aquatic Lands Enhancement Account grant from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. The Explorer will be a 4’ x 6’ trailer with a working water circulation system and sand table used to demonstrate watershed processes and will be covered by a weatherproof model of Whatcom County from the Cascade mountains to the Salish Sea. The purpose is to enhance ecological literacy in school and community groups by exploring Whatcom County from the mountains to the sea including freshwater, terrestrial and marine habitats, water cycling, land use impacts and restoration efforts.

WCD is a political subdivision of the State of Washington serving the residents of Whatcom County since 1946. The WCD five year work plan includes a robust education and outreach program targeting Whatcom County residents of all ages.

The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to solicit proposals from companies or individuals (Candidate), conduct a fair and extensive evaluation based on criteria listed herein, and select the candidate who best represents the ability to work with WCD staff to complete this project.
