Pastured chickens are allowed to roam in large areas containing grasses or other forage plants. This is similar to systems commonly used for cattle and sheep. In fact, many producers will have their poultry flocks follow a cattle herd; the grazing cattle will keep the grasses short enough so that the smaller chickens can more easily move around.
Visit with poultry processing experts and a panel of local commercial pastured poultry producers to learn from one another and share resources relevant to any size flock. Topics will include flock health & nutrition, marketing practices, and best management practices for chickens on pasture.
