2nd Annual Run with the Chums of Terrell Creek --5k Fun Run/Walk was held Saturday Sept 27th in the BP Highlands.
On this foggy morning in Birch Bay over 250 community members gathered for a day of exercise and education at the BP Highlands above Point Whitehorn. There was a 1k Smolt Sprint for the kids and a 5k Fun Run or Walk for all those kids at heart.
Six conservation organizations were represented to promote watershed stewardship by exploring what watershed we live in, what fish live in that watershed, how the water quality is impacted, what animals live there and how we can reduce our run off through storm-water catchment.
We learned that everyone can make a difference to improve habitat and water quality by improving septic systems, keeping animals away from waterways and planting native trees around streams just to name a few.
