Bertrand and Fishtrap Creeks are important tributaries to the Nooksack River Basin System. Nearly half of both watersheds’ boundaries extend into Canada. Water quality, flow, habitat, bacteria and nutrients are all concerns that are being closely looked at by the watershed community as well as by local and state agencies.

The Whatcom Conservation District has been working with local landowners, students, 4-H clubs and volunteers in both of these watersheds to improve water quality and habitat through stewardship, education and on-the-ground projects. If you would like to get involved call the District.
