Two candidates are running in this year's Whatcom Conservation District Supervisor Election;

Larry R. Helm

Jayne Uerling

For more information on candidates click links on their names.

There are two ways for you to cast your vote:

1.  Vote in-person in the District's conference room at 6975 Hannegan Road, Lynden, WA.

          - Other location maps; JPEG, PDF

          - Voting location on office diagram

2.  Voting by mailThe time for requesting a mail in ballot expired on Wednesday, February 29th at 4:00pm.  A cuttoff was necessary to ensure time to process the requests, mail out the ballots and the voters to receive, vote and return a ballot by mail.

Some folks have asked why we did not mail out ballots to every registered voter in Whatcom County.  The simple fact is that the District cannot afford the postage to do this every year.  The District does not have an assessment (per parcel or per acre charge to landowners).  Rather, nearly all of our programs and activities are supported by grants.  The grants do not provide enough margin to sustain much beyond accomplishing grant tasks and deliverables.
 We appologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.  If you have any questions or comments, please call the District's Executive Director, George Boggs, at 360.354.2035x115.  Thank you.

Each Conservation District is governed by a board of five supervisors who are all local residents. Our current board is a diverse group of people who are interested in natural resource management, including a beef producer, a dairy producer, a small animal veterinarian, a retired forester and a retired educator. Click here to meet our current board members.

Conservation districts are a special district chartered under RCW 89.08 etseq to develop and implement programs to protect and conserve Soil, Water, Prime and Unique Farmland, Rangeland, Woodland, Wildlife, Energy, and other renewable resources on nonfederal lands. Districts also stabilize local economies and resolve conflicts in land use.
